Christchurch is a fabulous base for exploring Dorset with its stunning countryside, picturesque villages, historic houses, castles and forts and the spectacular World Heritage Jurassic Coast. The rolling countryside and spectacular coastline is great for walking and cycling too, so why not leave the car behind and discover Dorset at your leisure?
The peace and tranquility of the New Forest with its pretty villages, cycle paths and walking is only a ten minute drive away from Christchurch. The best way to discover the hidden gems of the New Forest is to escape from the confines of the car and head out on foot, bicycle or on horseback to get a more intimate feel of the forest, its coast and villages.
Bustling Bournemouth with its clean sandy beaches, excellent nightlife, entertainment, shopping and events is well worth a day out and is only a fifteen minute drive from Christchurch. Regular bus services operate from Christchurch and during the summer months an open-top service runs along the cliff-top. The spectacular Bournemouth Air Show has been another huge success this year and takes place in August.
