The waters in and around Christchurch are renowned for providing some of the best all-round fishing in the country and have been a mecca for anglers for many years. Some of the best river fishing is available on the Royalty Fishery on the Hampshire Avon and the Throop Fishery on the River Stour.

Sea fishing is particularly good for bass and mullet during the spring and summer in Christchurch Harbour. Stanpit and Mudeford and Hengistbury Head are great for beachcasting all year round. If you would like a day out, there are a number of fully licenced fishing boats operating from local ports including Mudeford.

Fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout is available at several well-stocked still-water fisheries within reasonable travelling distance of Christchurch.
