This award-winning floral village lies four miles to the east of Christchurch and has a good range of places to stay, eat and drink , interesting independent shops and a Friday Market.
Highcliffe's attractive coastline, with its panoramic views of the Isle of Wight to the east and the Purbecks to the west,is just a few minutes walk from the village centre. The unspoilt beaches are great for watersports, swimming, body boarding or just lazing around and can be accessed through a series of zig zag paths from the large cliff top car park.
The 2.4 mile Christchurch Coastal Path extends from Highcliffe cliff top to Highcliffe Castle a magnificent Grade 1 listed mansion set in attractive cliff-top grounds, and then through Steamer Point to Mudeford Quay.
Mudeford has an intriguing history of smuggling over the centuries and the picturesque quay is still the focal point of the local fishing industry. Its spectaular location with Christchurch Harbour on one side and the open sea on the other make it a very popular destination for sailing and windsurfing. Mudeford has a good range of accommodation and places to eat and drink.
Action and activity is the key for all the family at Hurn, only a ten minute drive from the town centre. Here you will find Adventure Wonderland and Wild Thing, Snowtrax and a variety of activities including horse riding, four wheel driving, golf, go-karting and paintballing.
Several of Christchurch's excellent caravan and camping parks are located in Hurn and it is also home to Bournemouth Airport.
