Christchurch Quay is a popular attraction for all the family. It lies in the upper reaches of the harbour on the northern banks of the River Stour.
Christchurch Quay comprises two main areas; The Quomps and Town Quay.
The Quomps is a flat, open, grassed area containing a paddling pool and children's play area. Mayors Mead Car Park is situated at the western end of the Quomps.
Christchurch Quay is a more enclosed, grassed area with adjacent car parking. Place Mill, a former mill dating from 1100AD, straddles the millstream at the Quay. A Grade II listed building and important heritage site, it has recently been restored and is now open to the public. Café restaurants can be found at the Boat House and Old Mill Tea Rooms. During the summer months the Victorian bandstand holds concerts of brass, orchestral and light music. Boats are available for hire and there is also a ferry service to the opposite bank of the river at Wick. Novelty golf and a wishing well are also found on the Quay.
A pleasant riverside promenade runs the length of the site from the Quay to Wick Ferry and the slipway for public use.
