Heritage
Few places in the country can boast two rivers, two castles, an 11th century Priory Church, a mill of Saxon origin, a medieval bridge and the site of a civicl war siege in 1645, so it's no wonder that people have been visiting Christchurch for hundreds of years.
Many people visit Christchurch with the sole intention of visiting the magnificent Priory Church and are amazed to discover the town's rich history which is centred around the Priory Quarter.
Only a short drive away in Highcliffe is Highcliffe Castle, a splendid Grade 1 Listed cliff-top mansion with its own Heritage Centre and Tea Rooms. The Castle is a much sought after wedding venue and also offers conference facilities.
Christchurch boasts Fun for all the Family. The interesting Bournemouth Aviation Museum is also in Christchurch and is directly opposite Bournemouth Airport, next to the Adventure Wonderland and Wildthing! family theme park.
Numerous historic and nature walks, tours and trails take place around the borough to help you appreciate Christchurch's rich heritage and the Red House Museum podcasts are available for download.
