Olympics

2012 was an exciting year for Dorset as the county hosted the sailing competitions during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  The sailing took place at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, which is recognised as some of the best small boat sailing waters world-wide. 

The Olympic Torch Relay came through Christchurch on 14th July 2012. There was much excitement in the town on that morning and people turned out in huge numbers to see the torch go through the High Street.
